Our Plantations

Our estates are mostly spread verdant acerage in Coorg or Kodagu (originally called Kodaimalanadu) which means “dense forest on steep hill”. The estate is rich in bamboo bushes, pepper vines, Teak trees, rich deciduous trees and beehives lending a bounce to the life in the wilderness. Spices such pepper, cardamom and vanilla are grown along with coffee as inter crops. Our estate attracts rare birds such as the Great Pied Horn Bill (Buceros Bicornis) and many beautiful brids that keep throng our estate.

We cultivate our coffee under a well-defined two-tier mixed shade canopy, comprising evergreen leguminous trees. Shade trees prevent soil erosion on a sloping terrain; they enrich our soil by recycling nutrients from leaf  mulch, protect the coffee plant from seasonal fluctuations in temperature, and play host to diverse flora and fauna that again helps enrich soil.

The coffee berries are handpicked by a tribe that specializes in this profession. They pour their life into the crop. As we are dependent on the expertise of our berry pickers, their welfare is high on our agenda. We provide free education to the children of our estate hand and help them financially for health and wellness.

Traditional methods of sun dried processing, harvesting and hand selecting and picking have been preserved and are the trademark of our coffee beans.
